Bishkek, Nov. 22, 2018 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met today with athlete Zholaman Sharshenbekov, who won the silver medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary and his coach Khakim Makhmudov.
The press service of the Kyrgyz President reported that the head of state congratulated them on btheir achievement on the world championship and noted that this year the country's athletes delight with their successes.
“At the Asian Games, where athletes from 45 countries took part, 20 Kyrgyz athletes won prizes. For the first time in the history of our country, our athletes won 3 gold, 5 silver, 12 bronze medals and raised the country's flag high on the international level,” said Jeenbekov.
He also noted that the national football team of Kyrgyzstan in the qualifying matches for the Asian Cup, which will be held in 2019 in the United Arab Emirates, has risen to 12th place out of 47 national teams, and the national volleyball team is among the ten strongest teams in Asia.
“The success of Zholaman is the success of all Kyrgyzstanis. We were all proud of it! The athletes of our country only twice get the final match at the World Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling. One of them is Kanatbek Begaliev, the second is Zholaman Sharshenbekov. I wish you to train with the same diligence and perseverance - your future is ahead,” the Ppresident emphasized.
He also expressed his gratitude for the work of the coach Khakim Makhmudov, who for many years has been training athletes in the children's and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve.
Jeenbekov handed over Zholaman Sharshenbekov and his coach Khakim Makhmudov the nominal watch of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and wished them to protect the honor of the country in the future and raise the flag of Kyrgyzstan in international competitions and world championships.
