Bishkek, July 21, 2020 ./Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov met Tuesday with volunteers and civic activists who are rendering assistance to fight the spread of coronavirus infection, his press service reported.
There was an exchange of views on the current epidemiological situation, measures to support medical workers, provision of hospitals with medical supplies, strengthening of cooperation with volunteer organizations, etc.
Deputy PM Aida Ismailova and First Deputy Chief of the President’s Office Almaz Kenenbayev, representing the Republican Headquarters for Interaction with Volunteers and Coordination of their work took part in the meeting.
President Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to the volunteers, noting that he highly appreciates their work.
In conversation with the Kyrgyz leader, the volunteers noted the poor coordination of state structures in terms of interaction with them. They proposed to legally fix the status of volunteers.
They emphasized the need to provide volunteers with personal protective equipment.
The meeting participants drew attention to the fact that no compensation or additional payments have been made to the infected medics to this day. They noted the need for rehabilitation of medical workers, as they are in the most dangerous areas, construction of new hospitals, organization of a clear system of payments of compensations to doctors.
They drew attention to the lack of ambulances in the regions, the inaccessibility of PCR tests, the lack of modern medical facilities, a sufficient number of pharmacies, the low awareness of physicians in the regions of the methods of coronavirus treatment.
In addition, they noted the importance of timely preparation for the cold season and possible second wave of the pandemic in terms of construction of new hospitals, conversion of buildings to medical facilities.
They stressed the need to provide full information on the use of attracted funds in online format, drew attention to the inefficient distribution of incoming aid and suggested creating a digital map to address this issue.
The volunteers proposed to consider the possibility of deferring loans in banks, as many are left without income.
They also stressed that there have been cases of purchase of personal protective equipment at an excessive cost by the state bodies. Jeenbekov reminded that a criminal case had been initiated, and in March the relevant order was given to the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes.
The participants suggested holding an online meeting with volunteers in the regions.
Summing up, the Kyrgyz leader commented on issues voiced, noting that the solution of some of them requires time, many of them are already at the stage of implementation. For example, the Government has started work on the construction of hospitals and investors will be attracted.
According to the President, the most important achievement of the meeting was the dialogue, which will certainly yield results. He assured a more extended meeting with the representatives of the volunteer movements in the online format will be organized, as the volunteer movement is a great force, which has especially proved itself during the pandemic.
He added that after the stabilization of the epidemiological situation, a national forum will be organized with the participation of volunteers from all over the country.
The meeting was held in the format of questions and answers. Participants asked oral questions and also passed them on in paper form.
