Jeenbekov meets with WB Director of Strategy and Operations in Europe and CA

Bishkek, Nov.19, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Nov.18 Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Director of Strategy and Operations in Europe and Central Asian Region of the World Bank Mariam Sherman.

She has arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the High Level Development Forum “Accelerating Reforms For Sustainable Development”, the press service of the President reported.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation, implementation of current projects in the country, including regional ones.

Jeenbekov noted the World Bank is a reliable development partner of the country, which provides active support in addressing social and economic issues.

He stressed the development of regions is considered in Kyrgyzstan as the main task for the medium term, in connection with which he expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for the beginning of the development of the Integrated Regional Development Project.

The head of state also expressed hope the Bank's Education for the Future project and the project on reconstruction of educational institutions will become a significant support of the domestic educational system.

Mariam Sherman congratulated the Kyrgyz President on the successful holding of the High Level Development Forum “Accelerating Reforms For Sustainable Development", which is of great importance for the future of the country.

She stressed donors saw the President’s enthusiasm in the development of the country's regions, and expressed hope for close cooperation with the Government of the country in this direction.

Sherman noted the World Bank supports initiatives, aimed at regional development and spoke about the plans for the implementation of the Integrated Regional Development project in Osh Oblast. She assured in case of successful implementation of the project, it would be implemented in other regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Regional Director for the Central Asia Region at the World bank Lilia Burunciuc and World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Bolormaa Amgaabazar took part in the meeting.
