Bishkek, Aug. 22, 2020. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted urgent and pressing issues in regional development.
Today, Aug. 22, in his regular interview with Birinchi Radio of the Public Broadcasting Corporation, the Kyrgyz leader spoke about the results of his recent trips to the regions of the country and meetings with local residents.
"The villagers are busy harvesting, working in the fields. First of all, they are concerned about irrigation water, drinking water, there are many appeals on this problem, as well as issues with the security of schools and hospitals," Jeenbekov noted.
He stressed that during the visits, he told about the state policy on the development of regions, including the provision with clean water, repair and restoration of irrigation systems.
The supply of irrigation water to rural farmers President Jeenbekov defined as the second important issue, he was satisfied with the progress in implementing these projects on the ground.
According to him, the State Program on Irrigation Development is designed until 2026 and consists of 3 stages, two of which will be implemented by the end of 2024.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov added that for the implementation of irrigation projects, the amount of budget funds will be increased, as well as funds from international partners, donor countries, mainly in the form of grants.
The head of state also stressed the completion of emergency schools in the regions as part of active preparations for the new school year.
At the same time, Jeenbekov raised the issue of repairing internal roads in the regions.
"These works should be completed before the cold weather. Especially there is need to accelerate works in highlands, where the cold will come already in September-October.
"Over the past three years we have been paying special attention to this issue," President Sooronbay Jenbekov concluded, recalling that in 2019, 140 km of roads were paved in 40 regional centers and 8 cities, and 150 km of roads are planned this year.
