Jeenbekov on new agreements with Russia: A memorandum today, and real projects tomorrow

Bishkek, Mar. 27, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, leading universities of Kyrgyzstan and 70 leading universities of Russia will sign agreements on cooperation in various educational areas.

This will be possible on the basis of the Forum of Rectors the two countries, which is being held today for the first time and organized before the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Bishkek.

Head of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov took part in the opening of the Forum, addressing the participants of the meeting. The message of the Russian leader was read out as well.

“Memorandums of cooperation today, and tomorrow there should be real educational, research, innovative projects with real results. I am confident that the First Forum will set the general framework for future cooperation, towards deeper integration and closer interation,” Jeenbekov said.

In this regard, he assured the dialogue participants that Kyrgyzstan is a favorable platform for scientific and educational cooperation in such areas as alternative energy and hydropower, water and mountain research, high-altitude medicine, phytochemical studies of the medicinal herbs and flora or production of organic seeds and food.

“In addition, the potential of the Kyrgyz Republic should be taken into account in development of the research base of health and rehabilitation tourism. The capabilities of our country allow us to develop the educational and research direction of the mining sector,” Jeenbekov added.

He pointed out that the effectiveness of cooperation between the states in the education sector will depend on the success of the Forum’s work, and expressed the hope that it will become a prerequisite for developing an action plan for future human development.
