Bishkek, Oct.1, 2019. /Kabar/. One of the priority areas of Kyrgyzstan's cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is security, counter-terrorism, extremism and separatism, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said in his welcoming message to the participants of the 17th meeting of prosecutors general of the SCO countries. Chief of the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan Dosaly Esenaliyev read out the welcoming speech.
Thus, the Kyrgyz leader noted the SCO today has been held as a unique and international association for interaction to develop mechanisms of cooperation in various areas.
“Our relationship is firmly rooted in the Shanghai spirit. This is not just a declaration, but a real spirit of mutual trust, equality and respect. The Kyrgyz side considers multilateral interaction within the SCO as one of the priority areas of its foreign policy, including in the areas of security and countering terrorism, extremism and separatism.
In June, the SCO Summit was successfully held in Bishkek. Our countries have confirmed their intention to develop practical cooperation in the areas of oversight, strengthening the independence of courts and forensic activities. These issues are reflected in the adopted Bishkek Declaration,” Esenaliyev conveyed the President’s words.
In addition, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov drew attention to the fact that today the issue of combating drug trafficking is under consideration.
“In this regard, there is need to note the peculiarity of the importance of the adoption in Qingdao of the antidrug strategy of the SCO countries for 2018-2023,” Esenaliyev added.
Note that, the 17th meeting of prosecutors general of SCO member states is taking place in Bishkek.
