Bishkek, Feb.23, 2020./Kabar/. Today, Feb.23 Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov congratulated on Defender of the Fatherland Day.
According to the President's press service, the Kyrgyz leader's message of congratulations says:
"Dear compatriots!
I sincerely congratulate you on Defender of the Fatherland Day - a holiday of courage, bravery and patriotism.
On this day we pay tribute to the memory of fathers and grandfathers who inscribed heroic pages in the history of the country. We bow down to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Today we honor those who protect the Motherland, protect the peace and quiet of our citizens. We are grateful to all those who pass the severe tests of military life.
Ensuring security will continue to be a key priority of state policy, and the profession of defender of the Motherland is not only necessary but also honorable.
With all my heart I wish all Kyrgyz citizens health, happiness and success.
May there always be peace and prosperity in every home on our land!
Defender of the Fatherland Day is a holiday observed in Russia, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
It is celebrated on 23 February, except in Kazakhstan, where it is celebrated on 7 May.
In Kyrgyzstan, Defender of the Fatherland Day is a non-working holiday. In Bishkek, there is a military parade of the Bishkek Garrison.
The holiday was first introduced in the country by the Government of Kyrgyzstan on Jan.20, 2003.
Personnel of the Kyrgyz Army have their own professional holiday on May 29, which is the Day of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan.
