Jeenbekov receives Bishkek Mayor and Chui Oblast Governor

Bishkek, Apr. 8, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received on Wednesday Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov and Governor of Chui Oblast Altynbek Namazaliyev.

The sides discussed the current situation, measures to prevent further spread of coronavirus infection in the capital and the country as a whole, and to ensure food security, the Kyrgyz President’s press service said.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted that compared to other cities and regions where the state of emergency has been declared, the situation in the capital is more difficult to control.

He noted Bishkek and Chui Oblast account for the largest internal migration flow, with a large number of socially vulnerable citizens living in and around the capital.

"Citizens who live in the Chui Oblast and come to provide their families with daily income in Bishkek need special support today. They need to be to focus of attention. The leadership of the capital and the oblast should take coordinated action in this direction," the President stressed.

Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov said lists of 56 thousand poor and needy families living in the capital have been complied. They receive targeted assistance in the form of basic necessities from the local budget, 300 tons of flour were allocated from the State Material Reserves Fund through the Government.

International charitable foundations, business representatives and citizens also provide support to the Mayor's Office for the provision of food packages to vulnerable sections of the population.

Also, Chui Oblast Governor Altynbek Namazaliyev noted the work of helping socially vulnerable people, families in need and ensure food security in the region is carried out in the oblast.

Against the background of the fight against coronavirus infection, the forces have been thrown to timely spring field work. To date, spring fieldwork in the region has been completed by 94%.

In conclusion, Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed the tasks of protection of public health through enhanced measures to comply with the regime of emergency mode and state of emergency, as well as the provision of food to citizens living in the territory where the regime is introduced, are equal and require the local authorities to fully implement the tasks.
