Jeenbekov: SCO Summit in Bishkek has become major event in political life of country

Bishkek, Oct.8, 2019. /Kabar/. “The Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek was held successfully thanks to the professionalism of the diplomatic staff and the support of the Kyrgyz people,” President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at today's state awards ceremony.

The head of state awarded for active participation in the preparation and holding of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Bishkek in June 2019.

The President highlighted the SCO Summit has become a major event in the political life of the country, his press service said.

He reminded that leaders of the SCO countries - Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Organization's observer countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia - arrived to participate in the Summit.

“Leaders of the world powers discussed in Bishkek the most pressing issues of the modern era and made appropriate decisions. Thousands of media covered the Bishkek Summit on the world's television and radio channels. The international community assessed the SCO Summit held in our country as one of the largest political events in 2019,” Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed.

The President noted the Kyrgyz people supported such a major international event and showed an example of unity and cohesion.
