The Parliament adopted the Law on Apr. 4, 2019.

This Law was adopted in order to bring it in line with the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic adopted by referendum on June 27, 2010.

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic on Oct. 3, 2018, in the case on verifying the constitutionality of Article 12 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Guarantees of the Activity of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic”, decided to recognize the contested norm as contradicting part 3 of Article 16 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, to the extent that this norm does not provide for the procedure of bringing to responsibility the ex-president for the acts committed by him during the term of office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The law comes into force upon the expiration of ten days from the date of official publication.
