St. Petersburg, Dec. 6, 2018 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov spoke at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting of leaders takes place in these hours in St. Petersburg.
The head of state thanked the Russian side and Russian President Vladimir Putin for arranging the meeting and a warm welcome, and also congratulated him on the successful and fruitful completion of the chairmanship in the Union’s bodies in 2018, wishing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to successfully take over the helm.
“We consider it important to discuss the state of competition in cross-border markets. It is necessary to analyze the measures taken to curb violations of the general rules of competition, to constantly form a positive view of the Union as an effective and competitive international organization,” Jeenbekov said in his speech on the agenda.
He expressed confidence that the signed documents will make a significant contribution to the creation of conditions for doing business, and thus, a significant step will be made to improve the lives of citizens of all member states of the Union.
“Our Union has a huge potential for the economic development of each country in the Eurasian region, which is not yet fully involved. In this context, one of the most important tasks of our work is the elimination of any barriers and restrictions. I consider important the implementation of the four main freedoms in the EAEU space - the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor. We must support each other and remove obstacles,” the Kyrgyz President said.
He noted that in 2019 it is important to work to increase the number of sectors in which a single economic policy will be implemented, to strengthen cooperation in the agro-industrial sector with the creation of joint ventures. For the successful implementation of these plans, a close relationship between government agencies, the Eurasian Economic Commission and business is necessary. It is also necessary to create a mechanism for the implementation of joint infrastructure projects.
“We are confident that the implementation of joint projects will lead to an increase in the economic potential of all countries of the Union. At the same time, the Kyrgyz side has repeatedly noted the need to expand the competence of the Eurasian Economic Commission. I think it is necessary for the Commission, in conjunction with the member states of the Union to take appropriate measures to implement this initiative,” said Jeenbekov.
In conclusion, the President stressed that relations with the EAEU member countries remain the unchanged priority of Kyrgyzstan, expressed the country's readiness for a frank, trusting dialogue, urging partners in the Eurasian Economic Union to actively work together.
