Bishkek, Feb. 6, 2019. /Kabar/. “The education sector of Kyrgyzstan should train specialists demanded in the external and internal labor markets. To this end, it is necessary to maximize the existing potential of vocational schools,” President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov told Wednesday during a visit to vocational lyceum No. 98 in Bishkek.
The Kyrgyz leader got acquainted with the activities of the lyceum, talked with students and the staff of the educational institution, the press service of the President’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The President was told that qualified personnel in the areas of information technology, telecommunications and customer service are being trained at the lyceum. In addition, there are unemployed students who are sent to the institution through the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic. Fire safety and local network support personnel are being trained as requested by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to the lyceum, within the framework of the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the Country, great attention is paid to the training of young people from the regions, and constant trainings are held for teachers from regional vocational schools.
Jeenbekov noted with satisfaction that this practice should be applied throughout the country.
He cited statistical data, according to which there are 98 vocational schools in the country, of which 74 percent train a considerably lower number of students in the republic, and 67 percent – in Bishkek. In total, 30 percent of high school graduates enter these vocational schools.
“Of course, we all strive to get higher education and we want our children to go to higher educational institutions. But we must change the attitude towards vocational schools. Today, in the age of new technologies and rapid changes, in order for young people to find their place in life, they need to quickly master a profession,” Jeenbekov stressed.
The President noted that vocational schools have the opportunity to train specialists who are in demand in the labor market, are competitive. That is why the system of vocational education in the field of training should be widely spread throughout the country.
