Bishkek, June 11, 2018 / Kabar /. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited the house-museum of great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov on the occasion of his death and met with his relatives.
A prayer was recited in memory of the statesman and writer Aitmatov. The writer passed away on June 10, 2008.
Maria Aitmatova, the spouse of Chyngyz Aitmatov, thanked Jeenbekov for having visited them immediately after the completion of his state visit to China, noting that their attention and respect for the memory of the great writer is very important for their family.
The head of state stressed that the role and place of Aitmatov in the history of Kyrgyzstan is special, wherever he was, he served his country and people.
"Kyrgyzstan first became known to the world thanks to the Manas epic and our great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov. My human duty is to pay tribute to his memory," Jeenbekov said.
Wife of the writer Maria Aitmatova and son Eldar Aitmatov showed the Head of State the museum of Aitmatov, his manuscripts. The president and his close friends talked about life and work, shared their memories of Aitmatov.
Maria Aitmatova said that the writer moved to this house in 1986. The relative’s writers told about the work on the development of the museum, perpetuating the memory of Aitmatov.
Jeenbekov left a note in the book of visitors of the Chyngyz Aitmatov's house museum.
