Incheon, March 10, 2018 / Kabar/. The World Journalists Conference 2018 completed its work in Incheon, South Korea on Saturday by adopting a Declaration.
70 journalists from 50 countries participating in the World Journalists Conference 2018 adopted a Declaration of the World Journalists for Peace on the Korean Peninsula in the hopes that a spring heralding rapprochement and peace on the Korean peninsula.
The conference entitled "Role of Press in the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and World Peace” has began in Seoul on March 4.
President of Journalists Association of Korea Jung Kyu Sung read out the declaration, which reads: “With the participation of North Korea in the PyeongChang Olympics and the inter-Korea women ice hockey team, followed by the high level talks between South and North Korea, inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation for peace on the Korean Peninsula have become an irreversible trend of their time.”
It also says that journalists participating in the World Journalists Conference 2018 hosted by the Journalist Association of Korea share recognition that the denuclearization and establishment of peace and thus will strive for it together.
“We strongly support the recent development for dialogue between the two Koreas and call on all nations around the world as well as neighboring countries including the United States, China, Japan and Russia, to join diplomatic efforts to pursue the path toward security and peace on the Korean peninsula,” the statement said.
The World Journalists Conference 2018 was organized by the Journalist Association of Korea, the country’s biggest media body with its over 200 company members and 10 thousand journalists.
JAK, established in 1964, makes efforts to enhance capabilities of journalists by hosting various forums and seminars.
