Justice officials told about conceptual basis for criminal law reform

Bishkek, Jan. 30, 2019. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan held a seminar for law enforcement officers on “New Criminal Legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Framework of Judicial and Legal Reform,” the Ministry’s press service reported.

The event was attended by employees of the central office and territorial divisions of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the Center for the Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Assistance under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the seminar, members of expert working groups for the development of new codes Aslan Kulbayev and Irina Letova introduced the participants with the main novelties and features of the codes that entered into force on January 1, 2019, and also spoke about the conceptual basis for the reform of criminal law.

Employees of the judicial authorities who took part in this seminar will subsequently conduct explanatory activities among the population of the republic.

This event was held in pursuance of the decision of the Judicial Reform Council under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic of December 27, 2018, with the assistance of the UNDP Project “Enhancing Accountability and Transparency in Promoting the Rule of Law in the Kyrgyz Republic”, funded by the British Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
