Kabar News Agency and AKDN discuss cooperation

Bishkek, March 6, 2023 /Kabar/. Director of Kabar News Agency Mederbek Shermetaliev met today with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Diplomatic Representative in Kyrgyzstan Dr. Barkat Fazal.

During the meeting the sides discussed the issues of cooperation in various spheres.

Welcoming the guests Shermetaliev briefed about the activities of Kabar Agency, its goals and plans for future.

Dr. Barkat Fazal spoke about the activities of the AKDN, since its opening in Kyrgyzstan in 2001, about activities of University of Central Asia and possible directions for cooperation.

As one of the directions of the UCA is media and communication Dr. Fasal proposed Kabar to explore internships, public lectures, events research.

“We can collaborate with Kabar on specific initiatives, that might help to this important agenda. In the past we have made some special reports presenting topics of national importance. We have some programs where we have success stories and with Kabar we could cooperate in this sphere as well,” he said.

Shermetaliev supported the ideas proposed by the AKDN representative and offered the possibility to work in training journalists to increase the potential of Kabar Agency.

He also informed about the plans to organize seminars and experts’ forums to discuss some issues with the participation of foreign journalists.

“We should not only disseminate information, but we can cooperate with you in implementing educational projects. For example in Naryn Oblast we could inform locals what projects can be implemented in this area, how to develop tourism, agriculture. So we always welcome different kinds of proposals,” the director said.

He noted that media outlets just shouldn’t provide news about current state of affairs, events occurring in the country, but also and teach how to make money and how contribute to the development of the country in order to change the minds of people.

Speaking about possible cooperation with students of UCA, Shermetaliev noted that its possible to work with students in making video reels dedicated to tourism and attracting investments. “If we coincide theory and practice, the results will be more effective,” he stressed.
