In connection with the distribution in the media and social networks of a video about the detention of a Kyrgyz citizen, jazz musician for allegedly participating in the riots that took place in Kazakhstan, today, on January 9, 2022, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic Rapil Zhoshybaev was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
The press service of the ministry said that during the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Azizbek Madmarov handed Ambassador Zhoshybaev a note regarding the detention of citizen Vikram Ruzakhunov, with a call to provide consular access to the detained Ruzakhunov and to release him as soon as possible.
For his part, the Kazakh ambassador said that the concern of the Kyrgyz side would be promptly brought to the attention of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and promised to provide more detailed information as soon as possible. He assured that in the current difficult situation, the competent authorities of Kazakhstan will conduct a thorough investigation to clarify all the circumstances and reasons for what happened.
In addition, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nuran Niyazaliev, held telephone conversations with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Syzdykov and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Zhoshybayev, during which he expressed the extreme concern of the Kyrgyz side about the situation related to this citizen. Niyazaliev called on the Kazakh side to publish verified and reliable information on the participation of foreign citizens in the latest events in Kazakhstan. He also noted the need to timely inform the diplomatic missions of the country about the detention of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in accordance with the requirements of international and bilateral documents in the field of consular relations.
As part of the provision of consular and legal assistance to citizens of Kyrgyzstan abroad, the ministry is taking all measures to provide comprehensive assistance to every citizen of Kyrgyzstan located on the territory of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev maintains constant direct communication with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and keeps under constant special control the issue of the stay of Kyrgyz citizens who live and carry out their labor activities in the territory of Kazakhstan, in particular in markets and other areas.
Vikram Ruzakhunov, the well-known jazz musician, was detained and accused of taking part in riots in Kazakhstan, he was often on tours in Almaty. He was invited for concerts in Almaty before New Year, flying to the neighboring republic on Jan. 2.
