Kazakh poet Olzhas Suleimenov calls Aitmatov's Buranny Polustanok “novel of century”

Bishkek, Oct. 4, 2018. /Kabar/. Kazakh poet, writer and literary critic Olzhas Suleimenov called Chyngyz Aitmatov's Buranny Polustanok (Russian: Буранный полустанок) “a novel of the century”.

The filming of the documentary “The World of Aitmatov. A world without Aitmatov" (Russia: Мир Айтматова. Мир без Айтматова) of the Tolomush Okeev Kyrgyzfilm studio is nearing completion. The other day, the members of the film crew visited Almaty and took the shots necessary for production.

As is known, the multifaceted work of Aitmatov is inextricably linked with the former capital of the republic, in general, with Kazakhstan. Kyrgyz cinematographers made syncs of hotel figures of the Kazakh national culture speaking about the classics of literature, including the world-famous poet Olzhas Suleimenov.

He told a lot of interesting things about Aitmatov, praised his work, calling the writer's work Buranny Polystanok a novel of the century.

In the novel Buranny Polystanok, Aitmatov raises the problem of historical memory, a person’s respect for his own roots, for his family, clan, and traditions. In the center of the narrative is the dramatic fate of a simple Kazakh railroad worker Edigey Zhangeldin, known as Buranny.
