Kazakhstan plans to provide communication in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan through new satellite

Kazakhstan is planning on using the KazSat-2R space communications system to provide telecommunications services to end-users in neighboring Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry (MDAI) of Kazakhstan reported.

Now Kazakhstan is just preparing for the creation of KazSat-2R for the planned replacement of the KazSat-2 spacecraft, which has been in orbit since 2011. The term of the estimated active existence in the geostationary orbit of the operating satellite ends in November 2023, asiaplus.tj wrote.

“The resources of the KazSat-2R satellite will be used for the organization of fixed satellite communications channels as part of the implementation of the Digital Kazakhstan state program. This is the provision of ubiquitous broadband Internet access, including remote rural settlements of the country, as well as the subsequent provision of telecommunication services to end-users (government agencies, security agencies, corporate and private sectors) of neighboring states - Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan”, the message read.

Now the Republican Center for Space Communications is preparing a financial and economic assessment and terms of reference for the creation and commissioning of the KazSat-2R space communication system for the planned replacement of the KazSat-2 spacecraft.

At present, the national space vehicles KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 are successfully operating, their resources are used by 15 satellite operators, and more than 11,000 satellite communications earth stations are operating throughout Kazakhstan, the text read.
