Bishkek, Dec.20, 2019. /Kabar/. Meeting of Kyrgyz MPs, led by Deputy Speaker Mirlan Bakirov with counterparts from Kazakhstan, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Parliament Vladimir Bozhko was held at the Korday checkpoint.

Starting from next January, the Kazakh side plans to start reconstruction of the Ak-Zhol-Korday checkpoint. In this regard, citizens' passes will be stopped.

“Reconstruction of the Korday checkpoint, to begin in 2020, will create inconvenience for both sides. But I hope that citizens of our countries will understand this and use the nearby checkpoints. At the same time, the Ak-Tilek-Kara-Suu checkpoint is designed to pass only vehicles with cargo, which will create certain problems on the bridge. This checkpoint was built in 1975, we should pay attention to it", Deputy Chairman Bozhko noted in his speech.

Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Speaker Bakirov focused his speech on the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations and tourism development.

“Closing customs checkpoints should not create problems for the economies of our countries. There can be no unsolvable problems between the Kyrgyz and Kazakh sides, because we have been brotherly peoples for a long time, and in the future our relations should only be strengthened,” Bakirov said.

The issues of expanding trade between the countries and fighting corruption at the border were discussed at the meeting. The Kazakh parliamentarians promised to pass the proposals made to the relevant executive bodies. It was agreed that the next parliamentarians' meeting will take place in Kyrgyzstan.
