Kok-Boru national tournament kicks off in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul

Bishkek, March 17, 2021. / Kabar /. Kok-Boru National Tournament among the teams of the Premiere League has begun at the hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata town in Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.

The sporting event is devoted to the national holiday Nooruz.

A total of 6 teams take part in the Premiere League, and in the First League - 21 teams from all regions of the country. Preliminary meetings of the First League teams were held on March 13.

The results of the first day of the competition on March 17, 2021:

The Premiere League:

- Sary-Ozon (Chui Oblast) 11:6 Jash-Kuch (Batken Oblast);

- Dostuk (Osh Oblast) 7:2 Ala-Too (Osh city).

The Kok-Boru Tournament will last until March 21. Competitions on another national sports - er enish, at chabysh, salbuurun will be held within the tournament.

Kok Boru – Traditional Kyrgyz Horseback Competition.

The main goal of the game in the past was training for fighting. While playing kok-boru, men and horses were taught to be fearless. The game trained men to be courageous, brave, and daring, qualities needed by warriors.
