Kok-Boru World Cup to be held In Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul

Bishkek, Aug. 4, 2023 / Kabar /. The Cholpon-Ata hippodrome will host the Kok-Boru World Cup from 13 to 20 August, Talas Begaliev, President of the Kok-Boru Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, told at a press conference.

He said that teams from 8 countries will take part in the international tournament. The competition will be held in 3 formats.

“In the first format, 8 teams from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will meet. Our country will be represented by the major league teams "Sary-Ozon", "Dostuk", "Yntymak", "Muras". From Kazakhstan, teams from Astana, Jeti-Suu, Turkestan and the national team will take part. 12 clubs from 8 countries will play in the second format. Currently, 5 teams from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Altai and Krasnoyarsk have applied for participation from Russia. Teams from the USA, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Mongolia will take part in the third, and 1 team will play from Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

He noted that friendly tournaments between the teams of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan over 45 years old will be held in the third format.

The press conference participants noted that the international tournament will be held with the support and participation of President Sadyr Zhaparov and plan to hold it every 2 years in Cholpon-Ata.
