Kuaishou becomes one of most widely used platforms in China

Kuaishou, the Chinese short-video-based platform with live streaming function, has become one of the most widely used social apps and an important media channel in China, Vice President of Kuaishou Liu Zhen told on Monday during an online exchanges organized jointly by Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Global Times Online.

Speaking on the theme “On Kuaishou, Discover the Beautiful World” Liu Zhen briefed about the Kuaishou, its mission, social responsibility and contribution in fighting poverty.

He said that Kuaishou is the leading short video social platform and ranks the first among the top 5 social video platforms in China.

“Kuaishou's mission is to help people to find what they need and take full advantage of their strengths and continue to improve their well-being. Some people say that through Kuiaishou one can see real China,” the vice president said.

He added that many Chinese people living abroad share their lives overseas and rural people share rural life - good food and beautiful views.

Liu Zhen stressed that in order to fulfill its social responsibilities, Kuaishou opened a special tab on poverty alleviation.

“People can also generate income with the help of this platform. By May 2020, more than 250 million people have earned income from the Kuaishou platform,” said the vice president of the company.

He cited as an example how farmers in Sichuan Province posted a video of squeezing orange juice with their hands, which attracted a lot of attention to these oranges and users placed purchase orders, which boosted the sales of oranges.

The vice president of Kuaishou noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, their company, along with other Chinese organizations, rendered assistance in fighting the pandemic by allocating money.

In addition, he said that the platform, in collaboration with WHO, organized the 30-minute livestreaming on COVID-19. Also, in collaboration with other international organizations like WFP, the UNDP platform posts social videos about the school feeding program and and ecological protection.
