Bishkek, Nov. 10, 2020. /Kabar/. Last Sunday, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Reclamation Tilek Toktogaziyev paid a study visit to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) project on capture fisheries and aquaculture development in the Kyrgyz Republic, funded by the Government of Finland.
The UN FAO headed by FAO Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Adnan Quereshi presented the work carried out in the ground on the example of the Ton Balygy Agricultural Cooperative, where Minister Toktogaziyev was able to get acquainted with the work of the incubation shop, as well as to see the existing bacon ponds and ponds where commercial fish are grown.
During the visit, the work of the Ton State Fish Breeding Factory was also presented, where an incubation shop for carp and whitefish caviar is currently under construction with the support of FAO.
The minister noted the importance of the development of fisheries in the country, adding that new draft laws initiated by the Agriculture Ministry on fisheries development have already been prepared and passed the first reading in the government.
Adnan Quereshi noted that the main objectives of the project are not only commercial activities and economic benefits, but this project also helps to preserve biodiversity in the lakes of Kyrgyzstan by stocking, which is one of the priorities for FAO.
At the end of the visit, Tilek Toktogaziyev and Adnan Quereshi discussed further cooperation and how FAO can help develop agriculture and aquaculture in Kyrgyzstan.
