Kyrgyz ambassador and US assistant secretary of state discuss co-op in education sphere

Bishkek, March 9, 2022 / Kabar /. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the United States Bakyt Amanbaev met with a delegation led by Lee Satterfield, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).

The Kyrgyz embassy said that during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the level of bilateral cooperation between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of education, and also discussed promising areas for future cooperation. During the meeting, the American side informed about the various programs implemented by the American side in recent years.

The ambassador spoke in detail about the ongoing state reforms in the country under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov, the priorities and needs of the education system of Kyrgyzstan.

The ambassador of Kyrgyzstan further emphasized that the improvement of the education system is one of the important priorities of each country and asked to consider the possibility of increasing the number of places allocated to the Kyrgyz Republic in various programs in the field of education, such as Fulbright, FLEX, etc., as well as proposed to consider the possibility of launching new projects.

The United States expressed support for the proposed projects in the field of education and agreed to further work together to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State develops and implements educational, professional, and cultural exchanges and other programs that create and maintain mutual understanding with other countries necessary to achieve the goals of United States foreign policy.
