Kyrgyz ambassador to Austria attends opening of OSCE bicycle tour in Vienna

Bishkek, June 10, 2020 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Ambassador to Austria Bakyt Dzhusupov attended the opening of the third bicycle tour of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day, adopted by resolution of the UN General Assembly.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that a number of short stops were provided as part of the bike ride, one of which was organized along the Silk Road by the diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries in Vienna.

At the opening of the event in the Central Asian tent, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Austria Bakyt Dzhusupov made a welcoming speech.

He noted the important historical and socio-cultural role of the Great Silk Road in the establishment and strengthening of interaction between the civilizations of the East and West. The importance of the Silk Road as the great road promoting understanding and dialogue between peoples was emphasized, which, in turn, creates the prerequisites for strengthening trust, security and co-operation in the OSCE area.

During the event the tourism and investment potential of Kyrgyzstan was presented, and national treats were presented.

The organizers of the bike ride were the permanent missions of Albania, the chairmanship of the Organization, as well as Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, with the support of the OSCE Secretariat and other diplomatic missions, the department said.

The OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, ambassadors, representatives of the OSCE participating states, as well as employees of the OSCE Secretariat took part in the bike ride with a total distance of 70 km.
