Kyrgyz ambassador to Korea attends conference on labour migrants' issues

Bishkek, June 18, 2020. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the South Korea Dinara Kemelova took part in a conference on migrant workers' issues, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

EPS (Employment Permit System) conference on migrant workers' issues was held on June 17-18 in Gyeongsangnam-do Province.

It was attended by ambassadors and representatives of 16 EPS states, including the Kyrgyz ambassador.

In her speech, Kemelova raised the problems of entry into the Republic of Korea of Kyrgyz citizens who have received employment contracts, as well as those who have temporarily left for leave in Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, she proposed to make full use of the quotas on labour contracts allocated to Kyrgyzstan, and to expand this programme for Kyrgyz citizens in agriculture.

During the conference, Kemelova also had a bilateral meeting with President of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD) Dong Man Kim.

At the meeting, problems concerning the situation of labor migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic were voiced.

Ambassador Kemelova asked HRD Korea to provide all possible assistance in the matter of entry of migrant workers into the Republic of Korea taking into account quarantine regulations.
