Kyrgyz ambassador to Korea discusses joint projects with head of KOICA

Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2024. /Kabar/. Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova met with President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Chang Won Sam, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the meeting, Ismailova highly appreciated the activities of KOICA and the presence of a representative office in Kyrgyzstan. She emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is among the priority countries for cooperation in the field of ODA, and therefore expressed a request to increase the package of projects for bilateral cooperation.

At the same time, the ambassador informed about the approval of the national road map for the implementation of the “Mountain Five Years” and the planned holding of the second Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25” in Kyrgyzstan in 2027, 25 years after the first summit. In this regard, she invited the Korean side to take an active part and make its concrete contribution to the preservation of mountain ecosystems.

Chang Won Sam thanked for the assistance provided to KOICA’s activities in the Kyrgyz Republic. He noted that KOICA will continue to implement projects in priority areas of cooperation, in particular those related to the environment, agriculture, public administration and healthcare.

At the end of the meeting, in order to further strengthen grant and technical cooperation, the parties discussed organizing the visit of the KOICA President to the Kyrgyz Republic.
