Kyrgyz Ambassador to USA speaks at Baker & McKenzie in Washington

Bishkek, Apr. 1, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Ambassador to the USA Bolot Otunbayev spoke at Baker & McKenzie law firm in Washington, where a panel discussion was held on business issues in Central Asia, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to their information, the heads of the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan also spoke at the panel discussion.

The event was attended by representatives of the US National Security Council, the U.S. Department of State, the US Department of Commerce, the US Agency for International Development, the US Trade Representative, the largest US companies from various sectors of the economy, international organizations, expert communities and educational institutions of the United States. Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States, Senior Director for South and Central Asia at the National Security Council of the United States L. Curtis spoke at the event as an honorary guest.

In the course of his speech, Otunbayev spoke in detail about the investment, economic, export and tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan. In addition, he informed the participants of the event about the efforts undertaken by the country's leadership to ensure safe business in the country, safe stay of foreign investors in Kyrgyzstan, as well as ongoing reforms in the country to eliminate political and corruption risks for entrepreneurs, including foreign ones.

A separate topic of discussion was development of the economic potential of the Central Asian region and development of cooperation between Central Asia and American companies in the trade and economic, tourism, educational and cultural spheres.

Ambassador Otunbayev was asked questions by participants about possible ways to develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in various areas of interaction, and an exchange of contacts took place for organization of individual bilateral meetings with representatives of US companies.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of American companies expressed interest in possible organization of their visit to Kyrgyzstan in order to create and implement joint projects, as well as establish cooperation with representatives of state bodies and the private sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.
