Kyrgyz and Hungarian FMs discuss bilateral cooperation in video conference

Bishkek, May 7, 2020 / Kabar/. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan held a video conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Siyyarto to discuss the current agenda, as well as the planned high level bilateral events.

During the conversation, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as ways to further develop cooperation within the framework of organizing the official visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Hungary in 2020, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The sides paid special attention to the contract documents being considered by the parties, as well as the establishment of a Kyrgyz-Hungarian fund and the possible use of a Hungarian soft loan in order to support small and medium-sized businesses in the Kyrgyz Republic to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on the Kyrgyz economy.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in intensifying cooperation with Hungary to promote Kyrgyz products to the EU markets, in the framework of the GSP + status received by the Kyrgyz Republic.

The sides agreed to begin discussion of the organization of the visit of the business delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic to Hungary to familiarize with the trade and investment potential and the public procurement system of Hungary, with subsequent possible participation in it.

An agreement was reached to increase up to 150 quota places for training Kyrgyz students in Hungarian universities.

Aidarbekov welcomed the decision of the Hungarian side to appoint anambassador of Hungary to the Kyrgyz Republic in the near future. In this regard, Siyyarto requested to expedite the consideration of the relevant agreman.

Earlier, on April 15 this year the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary held a telephone conversation. Today's videoconference allowed the sides to confirm their mutual spirit and readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation.
