Bishkek, May 15, 2020 / Kabar/. On May 15, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Azizbek Madmarov, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Manlio Di Stefano.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the sides discussed measures taken by both states in the fight against COVID-19. Madmarov expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in gaining Italy's accumulated experience in combating COVID-19 by establishing direct cooperation and exchange of information between the Kyrgyz health authorities and Italy.
During a telephone conversation, the sides discussed the implementation of the agreements following the working visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Chingiz Aidarbekov, to Italy on December 13, 2019, including the appointment of the Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in Naples, the opening of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Italy, as well as the issues of facilitation of the situation of Kyrgyz citizens residing in Italy.
The sides also considered a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors, and came to the conclusion that it was necessary to expand the legal framework in order to further intensify interagency cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Italy.
They also discussed the course of implementation of the agreements following the results of political consultations between the foreign affairs agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Italy, held on November 15, 2019 in Bishkek.
The sides noted successful cooperation within the framework of international organizations and expressed their commitment to further close cooperation in a multilateral format.
