Kyrgyz and Tajik interior ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, April 7, 2021. / Kabar /. A meeting was held on April 6 between Ministers of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov and Tajikistan, Rakhimzod Ramazon Khamro in Sughd region (Tajikistan).

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the conversation, which took place in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding and trust, a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between the internal affairs bodies of the two countries was discussed. In this context, support was expressed for joint efforts to help establish security and stability in the border areas of Sughd region of Tajikistan and Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.

On the same day, a meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan took place in an expanded format, in which the heads of specialized police departments of the two countries took part.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of combating crime, terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, cross-border crime, as well as topical issues of mutual interest for the parties.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening ties between the heads of the internal affairs bodies of the border regions and specialized units of the two ministries.

The results of the negotiations once again confirmed the interest of the parties in the comprehensive development of cooperation in all areas of combating crime and the readiness to strengthen the legal foundations of many years of activity, the report said.
