Bishkek, Feb.2, 2018 / Kabar /. There are certain improvements in the delimitation of state borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the special representative of the Kyrgyz Government on Border Issues, Kurbanbay Iskandarov reported.
Iskandarov said that during the official visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Dushanbe, special attention was paid to the delimitation of the interstate border.
"Along with other topics, the issue of delimitation was touched upon, specifically the clarification of the passage of the boundary lines between our states. This process was temporarily suspended at the initiative of the Tajik side back in 2015: they unilaterally wanted to do some work on their borders. Now the work will be continued again," the representative of the Kyrgyz Government on Border Issues specified.
As a result of the meetings, as Iskandarov said, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan gave specific tasks to speed up work on delimitation of state borders. He stressed that certain positive moves were achieved, but it is too early to say which ones these are.
"This is a very sensitive issue. We agreed to carry out these works at the level of working meetings, during which we will agree upon the procedure of the sites arrangement. For today, we have determined around 520 km, which is already fixed at the level of the intergovernmental commission. The formation line of about 65 km was also determined,” Iskandarov said.
Iskandarov assured that the approval of these sites will be discussed in upcoming meeting.
