Kyrgyz and Tajik Presidents meet in Qingdao

Qindao, June 9, 2018 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Qingdao, China, on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

During the meeting, Rahmon congratulated Jeenbekov on the successful conclusion of the state visit to the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.

"After our meeting during your official visit to Tajikistan, there is a tendency of improving bilateral relations in all areas, including in the trade and economic sphere," Rahmon said.

In turn, Jeenbekov noted that he was glad to meet with the President of Tajikistan and the opportunity to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. "The Kyrgyz side attaches special importance to the relations of good-neighborliness, friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Tajikistan. We are always ready for an open and meaningful conversation on the entire range of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations," the President of Kyrgyzstan stressed.

The two leaders stressed the importance and significance of their meeting on the margins of the SCO Summit, which provides an additional opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation and topical issues on the international agenda.

The sides exchanged views on the situation in the region and stressed the need to strengthen the common forces against terrorism and extremism.

Jeenbekov and Rahmon expressed a common opinion about speeding up the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

President Jeenbekov arrived in Qingdao today, June 9, from Beijing, completing his three-day state visit to China.
