Kyrgyz and Tajik sides meet due to conflict at border

Bishkek, Aug. 6, 2020 / Kabar /. A meeting of representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on incident at the border is taking place, the public relations and media department of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

“Today, a meeting is held between the first deputy governor of Batken Oblast, border representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Batken direction and Tajikistan in the Isfara direction, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies and local authorities of the parties, where the reasons and details of the incident that occurred with a serviceman of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic is clarified. The version of the Tajik side about the alleged wounding of a serviceman of the border troops of Tajikistan and a fatal wound of a Tajik citizen is also being clarified,” the report said.

At the same time, the Kyrgyz side unilaterally began checking in the border area of ​​Chyr-Dobo, Batken Oblast. Law enforcement agencies are carrying out investigative measures to find evidence of the incident with the citizens of Tajikistan.

The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as stable.
