Bishkek, Feb. 21, 2019. / Kabar /. Within the framework of the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Budapest Process in Istanbul (Turkey), Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Kashkar Dzhunushaliev met with Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Suleiman Soylu.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that at the meeting the two ministers discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
The Turkish minister noted the positive development of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, the impetus of which was the mutual visits of the heads of two states last year. In order to implement the agreements reached at the highest level, Suleiman Soylu voiced his opinion on the need to enhance bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
Dzhunushaliev, in turn, drew the attention of the interlocutor to the existing contractual base. In particular, he noted that the sides are currently cooperating within the framework of a bilateral interdepartmental agreement of 1992. Stressing that this agreement does not fully meet the requirements in the fight against modern threats from crime, Kashkar Dzhunushaliev suggested updating the bilateral contractual base. In particular, in order to achieve substantial results of the meeting, he proposed to create a joint working group, which will be engaged in the development of a corresponding draft agreement between the two departments.
The sides agreed that such a treaty would strengthen interagency cooperation in the fight against transnational crimes, including international terrorism, extremism, illegal migration, drug trafficking and organized crime.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
