Bishkek, June 30, 2022. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz artisans intend to enter the U.S. market through the development of online sales. This became known during the annual meeting of the Daira Handicraft Association members, which took place in Osh city of Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, members of the association discussed strategic planning and development of the organization.
At the meeting, the participants brainstormed, reviewed the target markets, competitors, manufactured products, discussed the vision and mission of the association, identified weaknesses and strengths, threats and risks, and set strategic goals.
"In particular, the overall vision developed for 2018-2019 has not changed - priorities on preserving the environment, following global trends in the use of natural products, organic materials have been added. In addition, there was an emphasis on charitable activities, helping the poor: widows, left without breadwinners, large families and the elderly,” the report said.
During the meeting, all members of the association decided that the target market in the medium term remains the markets of the European Union: Germany and Italy, where the products of Kyrgyz artisans have a potentially high demand. Members of the organization decided to look for outlets to the US market through the development of online sales (website).
"At this meeting we made action plans to achieve the best results. We talked about the vision of the association in the future. Globally, we want to introduce the Daira to the world. In 6-8 years this organization will take its place in the world market. Thanks to it, Kyrgyz handicrafts will become well known in the world and there will be sales of Kyrgyz handicrafts in online stores. As for our southern region, we want to unite craftsmen from each village and achieve high quality of products produced," said Zhumagul Ibraimova - master of Kashka-Suu Iygilik Handicraft Cooperative, member of the Daira Association.
The event was technically supported by the Global Textile and Clothing Programme (GTEX), implemented by the International Trade Center (ITC) and funded by the Swiss Government.
