Bishkek, May 16, 2022. /Kabar/. Athletes from Kyrgyzstan won 6 medals at the 24th Summer Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul (Brazil).
The Department of Sports and Physical Training reported that more than 2800 athletes from 78 countries of the world took part in Deaflympics. In total 205 sets of medals in 21 sports were played.
Kyrgyzstan was represented by 24 athletes in five sports: judo, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, taekwondo and athletics.
The national team earned six medals - two silver and four bronze.
Azamat Mavlonov (up to 80 kg) in taekwondo and Almazbek Isakov (up to 65 kg) in freestyle wrestling won silver medals.
Bronze medals were earned by Smadiyar Zhumakadyrov Smadiyar (up to 55 kg) and Milias Markov (up to 130 kg) in Greco-Roman wrestling, Kanalbek uulu Ilgiz (over 100 kg) in judo and Bermet Marsbekova (up to 57kg) in taekwondo.
The Deaflympics are sports competitions for people with hearing impairments.
