Bishkek, Jan. 5, 2022. / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz Border Service is monitoring the situation in neighboring Kazakhstan, its press service reported.
The press service recalled that the units of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, including those deployed on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh section of the state border, in connection with the New Year celebrations from December 30, are serving in an enhanced mode.
The border service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic is monitoring the situation in the neighboring republic and on the border area. In case of aggravation of the situation, appropriate measures will be taken in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other government agencies, the report said.
Demonstrations began in Kazakhstan after authorities lifted price caps on liquefied petroleum gas used for vehicles, causing consumer prices to surge.
Some thousand protesters gathered in Almaty on Tuesday night. Police in Almaty used tear gas to contain crowds after vehicles were set on fire.
