Bishkek, Feb. 24, 2022. / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on the sidelines of the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Akylbek Zhaparov noted a positive trend in mutual contacts and the dynamics of bilateral trade in 2021 compared to 2020.
“Mutual trade turnover for the previous year amounted to almost USD 72 million and increased by 50% compared to the same period in 2020. These figures do not correspond to the existing potential between our countries, which are part of the same integration association. I think that we need to strive to increase trade,” he said.
Roman Golovchenko, in turn, expressed his readiness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, including the supply of agricultural machinery, as well as passenger transport.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. In addition, it was proposed to hold a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Belarusian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in Bishkek in March this year.
