Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2023 / Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov received a delegation of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) headed by Director General Frank Reisberman, the press service of the Cabinet reported.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including promising projects and programs related to the development of a green economy and environmental protection.
The meeting participants noted the important and active role of the Kyrgyz Republic, as a country with a high hydropower potential in solving global issues related to environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources, the report said.
The head of the Cabinet told the meeting participants that the leadership of Kyrgyzstan plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country by 44% by 2030.
“By 2025, we will aim to achieve carbon neutrality on a green development platform. The locomotive in this direction will be renewable energy sources, primarily hydropower,” he said.
In turn, Frank Reisberman expressed readiness to implement mutually beneficial projects, noting that in April of this year it is planned to open a GGGI branch in Kyrgyzstan.
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an international intergovernmental organization established in 2012 that supports countries in the development and dissemination of green growth, both focused on economic performance and environmental sustainability.
