Kyrgyz Cabinet chairman, premier of State Council of People's Republic of China meet

Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2024. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration Akylbek Zhaparov held a bilateral meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Li Qiang within the framework of his working visit to Pakistan.

During the meeting, Zhaparov congratulated Li Qiang on the 75th anniversary of the formation of the PRC.

“There is a good proverb in China - “A good neighbor is priceless wealth”. The holiday of our neighbor is our holiday and our joy,” the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet said.

Akylbek Zhaparov noted the high level of political dialog between the two countries, mentioning the key events of this year, such as the signing of a trilateral agreement on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, the opening of a joint trilateral company in Bishkek and the Bedel checkpoint, as well as the launch of the Junda oil refinery.

The Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers added that bilateral trade is actively developing, its indicators amounted to almost USD 20 billion.

In turn, Li Qiang emphasized the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries, expressing readiness for joint steps to strengthen bilateral relations and achieve the set goals.

During the meeting, Akylbek Zhaparov also highlighted the achievements in bilateral relations and outlined the necessary steps for further development. In particular, he drew attention to projects aimed at increasing the potential of the Bedel crossing point, including the construction of the Barskoon-Ychturpan-Aksu road, optimization of the work of the Torugart and Irkeshtam crossing points, and opening of new air corridors.

He made a number of proposals on financial cooperation, including interbank cooperation, opening branches of Chinese banks in the Kyrgyz Republic and assistance in issuing government securities in Chinese currency.

The parties discussed cooperation in the spheres of mineral resources development, energy, agricultural exports, cultural and humanitarian relations and tourism.
