Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2021. / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, taking into account the fact that the climate agenda and green economy issues have become an integral part of the economic activity of almost all countries of the world, proposed to hold the Eurasian Ecological and Climate Forum in Issyk-Kul in summer of next year dedicated to climate change and green economy issues within the framework of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
Speaking at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format in Cholpon-Ata, Maripov said that it is important that measures to combat climate change do not become an instrument of unfair competition, do not contribute to breaking existing production ties, but, on the contrary, form new ones.
During the meeting, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic separately noted the climate agenda, which contains a global tendency to strengthen regulation, especially in the policy of countries conducting foreign trade.
“In these difficult conditions, there is a definite need to change the main focus on the development of new areas of integration cooperation. Our Union, as the largest integration association in the Eurasian space, aims to ensure sustainable economic development of the member states and shares the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Today, an integral part of this development is the green economy, which focuses on seizing opportunities to simultaneously advance economic and environmental goals. It is a low-carbon, resource-saving and diversified economy, while using inclusive approaches,” he said.
