Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2021 / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which took place via videoconferencing.
The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said that Akylbek Zhaparov in his speech said that today’s meeting of the Council of Heads of Government is taking place on the eve of a significant anniversary date - the 30th anniversary of the CIS.
Akylbek Zhaparov noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is further committed to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation within the Commonwealth and the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the countries.
“The development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the CIS member states is one of the important conditions for the sustainable development of the Commonwealth countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic,” he said.
The Cabinet chairman also noted the necessity to continue working together to diversify foreign trade through the full functioning of the free trade zone, expanding transport corridors, creating a favorable environment for attracting technology and investment, as well as expanding industrial cooperation between the countries.
“It is also necessary to make joint efforts aimed at ensuring conditions for the preservation of a single information, humanitarian and cultural space, as well as creating favorable conditions for the stay of citizens of the participating states in the Commonwealth countries,” he said.
Akylbek Zhaparov stressed the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to the issues of improving the level of transport logistics and the development of railway infrastructure and, of course, the elimination of barriers in ensuring the international transport of passengers and goods.
“For Kyrgyzstan, as a landlocked country due to its geographical location, it is extremely important to improve transport corridors and bring the republic out of economic isolation. In this regard, we are in favor of building up the transport and transit potential of the CIS countries, taking into account the interests of all member states of the Commonwealth, as well as the emerging international transport systems in terms of rail transport,” he said.
Zhaparov emphasized the successful implementation of the Interstate Target Program for the Reclamation of Areas Affected by Uranium Mining and said that the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in the further implementation of this Interstate Program.
He also dwelled on innovative cooperation. “In the context of globalization, it is important for our states to unite their efforts and continue work on the development and implementation of new innovative projects in all priority areas of activity within the CIS,” he said.
Speaking about cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the Kyrgyz Cabinet chairman said that close cooperation in this area and maintaining active contacts at all levels contribute to the creation of a common atmosphere of harmony, tolerance and friendship between our peoples and states.
Akylbek Zhaparov thanking the CIS Executive Committee for the formation of the representative composition of the CIS Observer Mission in the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan on Nov. 28, 2021, expressed confidence that the mission will take an active part in monitoring the elections.
Zhaparov said that at the last meeting of the Council of Heads of State, the Kyrgyz side proposed to consider the possibility of sending humanitarian aid to the multinational people of Afghanistan under the auspices of the CIS. In this regard, he also suggested to activate the work on sending humanitarian aid to the multinational people of Afghanistan.
In conclusion, the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan wished success to Kazakhstan in its chairmanship of the CIS in 2022.
