Kyrgyz Cabinet chairman thanks partners for vaccines as part of COVAX initiative

Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2021 / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov held a regular meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.

Opening the meeting, he thanked development partners for their assistance in bringing 259,000 doses of Phizer vaccine and 111,600 doses of Sinofarm vaccine to the country as part of the global COVAX initiative.

The meeting participants discussed issues of the current epidemiological situation, heard information about the rate of vaccination in the regions and the situation in educational institutions.

Akylbek Zhaparov noted the importance of conducting and strengthening explanatory work among citizens about the need to receive a vaccine.

In addition, during the meeting the participants discussed availability of the necessary stocks of personal protective equipment and medicines, considered proposals for the provision of PCR analyzes to socially vulnerable groups of the population on a free basis or at a discount.
