Bishkek, May 7, 2024. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov, as part of a working trip to the Issyk-Kul region, got acquainted with the activities of the Kumtor Gold Company closed joint-stock company.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held with the management team of the Kumtor enterprise. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that it is especially important for the state to ensure the uninterrupted and efficient operation of the mine, as well as the implementation of all planned plans.
He also visited the machine shop of the enterprise, where he got acquainted with the state of assembly of new excavators and gas stations. The project to automate Kumtor's oil storage facilities and gas stations allows for careful control over fuel consumption.
Currently, more than 800 different vehicles, machinery and equipment are used to ensure uninterrupted production at the mine.
Akylbek Zhaparov also visited the main Kumtor quarry. Mining operations are in full swing here and an underground gold mining project is being implemented.
It should be noted that in February of this year, an underground gold mining project was launched at the Kumtor deposit, which will allow the extraction of about 115 tons of gold.
During the familiarization with the work of the gold recovery plant of the enterprise, it was noted that new equipment was installed, which, like an X-ray machine, allows for proper control of those entering and leaving the premises of the plant.
In addition, it was reported that from 2026 it is planned to begin extracting gold from ore waste located in the mine tailings. According to preliminary estimates, this will allow us to obtain an additional 120 tons of gold.
