Kyrgyz Cabinet to reduce electricity rates for residents of Batken border villages

Bishkek, May 20, 2022 . /Kabar/. The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan submitted for public discussion a draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers "On measures of state support for persons residing in certain border areas of Batken Oblast with a special status”.

The project provides for the provision of electricity consumers residing in the border areas of Batken Oblast, benefits in the form of 50% of the payment for the use of electricity in the amount of up to 700 kWh.

As of January 2022, the total number of domestic subscribers residing in the border areas of Batken (62 villages) is 22,404

Under this option, the reduction of the tariff compared to the current one will be 50%.

The above benefits should be financed from the national budget of Kyrgyzstan.

Based on the above, the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic has developed a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On measures of state support for persons residing in certain border areas of Batken Oblast with a special status”, which proposes to establish for domestic consumers (population) of electricity living in certain border areas of Batken Oblast with a special status, benefits of 50% when paying for the use of electricity.
