Bishkek, Dec. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. Saima Craftsmen Championship was held on Thursday at Gapar Aitiev National Museum of Fine Arts in the city of Bishkek with the support of the Kiyiz Duino Public Foundation.
According to the organizers, the main purpose is the revival and popularization of traditional crafts.
A contest of beldemchi tookplace also as within the framework of the championship.
Beldemchi is a color of traditional Kyrgyz costume and is a flared skirt worn over a dress or vest (camisole). Beldemchi is an element of clothes of a Kyrgyz woman, which is rarely found in other peoples. An interesting historical fact is that beldemchi were also used by men, but as a combat clothing. In these cases, they were usually covered with metal plates.
