Bishkek, June 5, 2019. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz-Chinese border will be temporarily closed on June 7-9, the press service of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
“The Torugart Road and Irkeshtam Road checkpoints at the Kyrgyz-Chinese section of the state border will be temporarily closed on June 7-9 in connection with the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival (Rise holiday) at the initiative of the Chinese side ,” the report said.
The passage of persons, vehicles and cargo through the checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese section of the state border will resume on June 10, 2019.
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday originating in China, occurring near the summer solstice. It is also known as Zhongxiao Festival, commemorating fealty and filial fealty. The festival now occurs on the 5th day month of the traditional Chinese calendar, which is the source of the festival’s alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival.
