Kyrgyz culture festival, Aitmatov Conference held in Al Kuwait

Al Kuwait, Feb. 20, 2019. /Kabar/. The National Heritage Festival and a conference dedicated to the work of Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov was held in the city of Al Kuwait. The event took place at Kuwait University.

During the festival, an exhibition of traditional clothing and a concert of an arts group of Kyrgyzstan were organized.

The festival was attended by Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Jamankulov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Kuwait Samargul Adamkulova, professors of Kuwait University and the dean. Former Rector of the Eastern University of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Ibraev delivered a large report on the work of writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.

In his welcoming speech, the head of the Ministry of Culture spoke about the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan and invited the citizens of Kuwait to visit the republic.

“First, Kyrgyzstan is a country of mountains. 95% of our territory is covered with mountains. We have peaks that are interesting for tourists. In our country, mountain tourism (hiking) is developed. Second, Kyrgyzstan is a country on the Silk Road and connects eastern and western cultures. There are many historical sites in Kyrgyzstan, some of them are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Third, Kyrgyzstan is a country of nomads. Here you can get acquainted with the traditions, culture and cuisine of nomadic peoples. Last year, the third World Nomad Games were held. The fourth games will be held in Turkey in 2020, and we hope that the Games will continue to be held in other countries,” he said.

Jamankulov stressed that for Kuwaiti citizens there is a visa-free regime in Kyrgyzstan and in this regard, he invited everyone to visit the republic.
